Below is the write up about a movie which I expect so much for this year.The story has been my personal favorite and is based on one of the best Tamil novel which I have read so far.I happened to read the novel Pirivom Santhippom during my college days ,which made me to think aloud about love.Written by Sujatha the story was initially published in Anantha Vikatan in early 80’s.The story of Pirivom Santhippom is of two series first in Tirunelveli second part in America.After eight years I am able to recall each and every characters of the work.This has nothing to do with my memory but with the beauty of the book.The main characters are “Ragupathi and Madumitha “.After reading the book I felt there can not be a sweeter name than Madumitha .Even the name of the particular character while reading the novel will make you feel for Ragupathy. Varanam Ayiram is straight from heart and not from mind .When you have something to say from your heart you are least bothered about the intelligence and you have to abide by your heart.Some how this high expectation on this movie would let down the movie from being a usual Gautham Menon movie.But truly I respect the intentions of the director to bring out a movie which wants to pay the tribute to his passed “ Daddy “ . But some where the intention of the movie is getting lost . This is the journey of a man Surya from his childhood boy to a ambitious young man through many phases who was guided by his father Krishnan .The young boy Surya takes inspiration from his Dad and he faces ups and downs in life .He is guided by his dad in all his phases and His Dad remains as his one source of motivation through out.He looses his love Meghala and puts a halt for his life with drugs. Mirugam (2007)

Mirugam was a much speculated and much criticised movie before its release for various reasons other than the main movie and I took the option to choose though I didn ’t have any interest to watch this particular movie .There are two things which should be mentioned about the movie first you can not avoid comparing this with Paruthiveeran and director Sami has tried to rework getting inspired by Cult classic Paruthiveeran .Secondly I can not understand will there be any human like Ayyanar in our day to day society.Why was this movie made?It self is a big confusion.Is it for awareness or for narrating a story of a beast?.If its awareness we should be very sorry for the director ,I think the world has moved a long way from 1987 to 2007 with regard to awareness of AIDS.
