Fashion (Hindi - 2008)

Madhur Bhandarkar wants to show his identity again as a reality film maker .This time he digs and pokes inside the Glamourous fashion industry.Its really interesting to know his space he chooses for each movie from Page 3 to fashion he has put some efforts as a film maker to bring it in celluloid.Fashion is more on the emotional side than the theme.

Fashion is about rise and fall of Super Model Meghna Mathur who gets ruined by the towerleads of Fashion industry .Meghna leaves Chandigarh to become a model.Every things happens at a rapid pace for her and she carries herself so well with a level of intelligence.Sharin(Arbaz Khan ) who is the sponsor and brand owner of Panache Fashion house lifts Meghna to a position which she was dreaming.Arrogance and attitude gets over her due to the height she had attained.One point she is thrown out of the shows and she turns out to be a real bitch at a party.She thinks back and returns to Chandigarh.After a year the same struggling Meghna returns and this time she makes with real passion and with some help.

Fashion is not about the dress,designs,Brands and designers .Its all about the models and their coveted image.It digs inside the hideous emotions of their life and puts into a disrepute status. It speaks more about the models and their rich network like it did in Page 3 .”You are model don’t think “ was a good oneliner which tell about the Super Models.Fashion can not denied that it is one of the researched movie ,but the intention of the research is questionable.Because this study of Madhur Bhandarkar is aimed to smell the emotions and networks rather studying the industry.Thats why there is a dialogue in the movie “ This industry is not about Modelling its about networks” Point accepted and taken.

Still Fashion is a good movie for some stunning performances and real instance reference.Kangana's character Shonali put up with a striking resemblance to the distressed model Geetanjali Nagpal, who was found begging on the city streets, after a professional and personal crisis.And there is Wadrobe malfunction which happened some time ago in Lakme Fashion Week for Carol Gracias is also taken.

This movie would go as the best ever Priyanka Chopra performance.She puts up an stunning performance and displays her beauty with style.I was just blowed by her beauty and was wondering how she could walk so professional as a model.But just in thought for a moment I had actually forgotten that she is former Miss world! Kangana steals the show in all the ramp walk .She is the real Diva of the movie and ramp .Her character is the icon for the crux of the movie of how a model gets ruined and ends her career and self.Kidu Kidwani as a Agency owner and Arjan Bawja as a gay designer were commandable in their roles.Special mention to the salim Sulaiman’s music which was lifting the movie with glamour.

Madhur Bhandarkar’s intentions to make reality movie is good but its high time he should come out of the formula which he is holding Gays, Wimps ,sex scandals and exploitations.He is one director who does some research before making a movie ( As per his claim !) but he should unleash to new avenues of reality.Fashion is far from a great movie but I am going with a verdict of Good which is surely for the performances and good music .Ofcourse for the anxiety and curiosity to prod inside of Model Industry .
