Wow.This is a movie I was dying to watch.The movie did not dis appoint me .As said by my friend Ashok Krishnan in his blog this movies left me traces of Mouna Ragam ,Only thing the movie is told in western culture for the emotional trauma.

The Painted Veil is a 2006 film directed by John Curran and stars Naomi Watts, Edward Norton, and Liev Schreiber. The Painted Veil is based on the novel of the same name by W. Somerset Maugham.
Edward Norton ....I really wonder why I love this Great Actor from my first experience of watching him in Primal fear to Italian Job,He is really immaculate in his performance
The movie starts with a Party where Dr.Walter Fane meets Kitty Garstin(Watts) .He falls in love with kitty and eventually marries her with Kitty no love for Fane.They move to China where Kitty meets Charlie Townsend (Schreiber), a married British diplomat, and has an affair with him.
Dr.Fane find this and he gives Kitty an option.come with him to the Chinese interior to assist with a cholera epidemic he has volunteered for, or be served with divorce papers.
Kitty joins Fane where they hardly speak each other and remains idle from morning to night.
She feels miserable when Fane simply dismisses her .Kitty volunteers a local orphanage in taking care of orphan children.
Kitty finds from the nuns how Fane is selfless and caring person.
Slowly Kitty falls in love with Fane and so is Fane .Kitty becomes pregnant , Kitty& Fane are not sure who the father is !!.Fane accepts her& makes love.Kitty gets involved in taking care of the orphans in the Orphanage.
One day Dr.Fane is infected by Cholera and Kitty meets him at the bed.
Fane dies of Cholera and Kitty goes back to London .Five years later she meets Charlie Townsend .She rejects him and walks away with his son Walter
Its very hard and difficult to understand the main characters ,Does Fane loves Kitty ?
Painted veil is not complicated but its hard to understand.
The movie to be noted for the way its filmed in Chinese back drop with legendry actors Edward Norton and Noami Watts.
The master piece is when Edward norton asks Watts " Am I father of the Child " ,and Watts reacting of her unsure state and sinful emotions.I have never come across a uneasy situation for a woman when her Husband just starts accepting her.
Watts is shear beauty with her love and the way she struggles with Edward Norton for his acceptance.
One among the beautiful things of the movie is the music score which gives you boom effect after you finish watching the movies,Notably the final score when she travels back to London
The music won the Gloden globe and Critics association award in 2006.I am sure this movie and Mouna ragaam of Manirathnam falls in the same category inspired by the Novel

This movie is a must watch for a beautiful crew and shots and the way it has captured the emotions and love.

Hari is back for this Diwali,Last year his Vel was the winner among the horses overtaking even the well made Pollathavan.What could you say he is a winner all along in B and C centers with completely action packed and emotions sowed.This time he makes a movie with such a kind but with Bharath. One thing I have to mention before writing this review is that there were more characters in the movie than on the cinema hall.And at one particular scene there were nearly 25 characters which spoke and I am not sure how Hari handled it. Yesterday I tried some thing so different.Yesterday was the first attempt to watch a Kannada Movie and it didn’t disappoint me .I think I played the safer game for selecting a commercially hit movie comparatively. I can understand Kannada to a great extent off late as I was in Bangalore for two years .Kannada movies will be a often discussed topic for the guys based out on Bangalore particularly on the Kannada heroes .Funny comments we used to compare with Tamil.Some times I have felt bad for the Kannada viewers also when I see Tamil movies attracting more crowd than Kannada movies in Bangalore.
