5 Forgotten Tamil movies (70's 80's 90's) to watch during this lock down available in Youtube
There used to be days when I used to watch a movie twice, thrice or even five times in a theatre. Every one growing up watching Rajini, Kamal would definitely agree; Aboorva sagotharargal, Batsha, Kadhalukku mariyathai or many to name it.
It may be completely not possible today with the schedule and the amount of new content which streams before you. Some movies bring nostalgic moments when they are telecasted today. For example, I usually have it with Bombay, I remember watching it atleast 30-40 times in theatres in and around Tirunelveli.
I have rehashed some of Tamil movies which is available in Youtube today which you should watch it again. These were some of the movies which gave huge inspirations to film makers, script writers or be it any one loves cinema like me. Test it , first 15 minutes of any these movies and I bet you will sure complete the whole movie. There were movies which defined the audience and also there are why Tamil cinema stands out even today.

There was this Vintage Kamal Hassan, every one used to love him for his roles. This movie is worth every second for it beautiful making and the Vintage Kamalhassan as Udhayamurthi. The colloborative effort of KB, Kamal and Ilayaraja is at its best display in this cult classic. I would rate this as his one of the best of all time just because for his charisma and his character. I remember Udhayamoorthi, LK Malam and Bilahari is such a revelation of character those days. KB conveyed multiple things through the names and also through the names, as usual this movie ahead of its time in a huge manner. I still long for the locals and camera shots of " Punjai Undu ". Lots to speak about this movie.

This may be a surprise element for many, but Murai maman was Goundamani , Jeyaram at their best. Sundar.C debuted with this movie (1995) and he had to trust on Goundamani, Manorama,Kushboo for the commercial aspect, But Jayaram stole the show dominating the three big stars. The movie was written for Sarathkumar, but Jayaram ended up. If you recollect " Janakiraman" directed by Sundar C also had the same back drop with Goundamani, Manorama but with Sarathkumar. Muraimanan is a perfect matinee show
Kadhalmannan
Why Kadhalmannan ? Just for MSV and Vivek's combination. First forty five minutes in Kannadasan mess and the character of Vivek is a riot for this fast paced commercial movie. Honestly I would watch them again any day, I never liked Saran after he lost Vivek in his movie. His humor sucked in any of his later day movies. Again Saran debuted with " Kadhal Mannan" in 1998
Sathya

This is the rebel element of 80's Tamil cinema, If Kamal would have acted this in 2000's, it would have been a run away hit. This was his till date best movie by debutant Suresh Krishna and one of the best political movie in Indian cinema. In popular culture Kamal's character is regarded to be an extension of Varumayin niram sigappu (Vasu), the macho look of Kamal is revived to be a cult even today. If I could rate the best macho look in Tamil cinema which describes the angry young man, I would rate Sathyamoorthy as cut above the class any day. Ilayaraja gave one of his best work and movie's BGM is hailed to be one of his best re-recording till date. Watch it for Kamal and I never found that Suresh Krishna again

Can you believe Azhiyatha Kolangal was made and released in 1979. This would be the "Malena" of 70's , If there was a taboo about Sex and adolescence in Tamil cinema during 70's , this movie just broke every bit of it and beautifully portrayed the coming of age through three teenagers through the legendary Balu Mahendra's lens. This movie had Kamal in a guest role, but this has the most beautiful lady star " Shoba" in a very very desirable role. One of the rare movie where there is no Ilayaraja' in Balu Mahendra’s visuals but Legendary Salil Chaudry's music spreads all over and Balumahendra angles makes this an intriguing watch even today.
