Malaikottai (2007)

Uffff….I am sick of this trend which is in Tamil cinema .The dada formula is really getting over boarded in Tamil cinema. It all started with Dhool and its now is a nonsense state where you don’t find any thing new.Vishal’s growth over the two years is astounding as a action hero. He stands by it and gives a guarantee of a hit.But one thing how could one hero choose the same story line for three of his movie.Vishal has Sandaikozhi,Thimir and Malaikottai with same story line.Hero hitting a dada in his place and then Dada groups chasing him till the climax and atlast Hero burries every body. This is a real sick in Tamil movie. How much interesting in the screenplay also this really spoiling the growing cinema by all means.

Malaikottai directed by Boopathipandian is set in Trichy for a difference. (Thank God its not Madurai).Director do not have high ambition on his work other than the usual formula of Six stunts, five songs, romance. So is Malaikottai.Pazhani (Kannada veteran actor Devaraj)rules the city through his Dadagiris. Now Anbu (Vishal) enters the city and falls immediately in love with Malar (Priyamani).Guna brother of Palani tries to grab Malar .Vishal rips him off and Pazhani roams around in the city to take revenge on Anbu .I am really surprised of all the film making world only Heroes in Tamil cinema are jobless and they do not perform any work other waiting for Heroine outside the Examination hall till her exam completes. How rubbish .

There is nothing to mention on the performance of any body as Vishal has overshadowed every body .Right from action, comedy, dance. Its Vishal every where.Vishal action performances are really amazing and its believable if he hits on the screen. Action shots are heavy and it has carried a real weight in the movie. I like Vishal when he fights but not always and repeatedly. I expected something overboard from Priyamani after the scintillating Muthazhugu character ,I was deceived by the poster. Its real worst performance ,I see her nowhere in any of the future films. She looks horrible in wardrobe, performance and looks.

Villain Devaraj looks good and he like other usual Tamil villains travels in Ford followed by the vehicle of Tamil cinema “Tata Sumo”.Music(Manisharma) and camera are reasonably good with some chartbuster songs .Firece action bolts and chasing has give a real work for the camera. The stunt before the break is really breathtaking and its real macho performance by the cast and the camera. What else you can write about a movie which had only difference in title from the other movies.Vishal will rise from this movie as a Mass Hero and he will do the same stunts to a point .I am eagerly awaiting Vishal and R.D .Rajasekhars cop story “Satyam “ which would give us the real piece of genuine work of Vishal.
But for Malaikottai “Please give me a break “

Thank God its not Madurai this time....valid comment. Kollywood should stop portraying Madurai heaven for gangsters. We can experience the cause when we live in Chennai...people and police looking differently when we say..I am from Madurai...

Good review na..
