Zodiac(2007)

To start with I was disturbed after watching this movie ,Serial killer movie never shakes me but this took me for a ride right from the start.I wouldn’t say I loved the movie but it had left me for real engrave .My brother is a great fan of David Fincher and from him the impact of the fever stuck on me too. Zodiac is one movie which will be a movie to watch for his brilliance in knitting the screenplay and leave the viewers confused. David Fincher's movies are always dark and intense. His characters always have some thing to say after the movie also for the viewers.

Zodiac is about a serial killer who disturbed San Francisco in the late 60’s.The movie searches for the serial killer who names himself Zodiac .Cops,Cartoonist,Reporters every body trace him with the level of evidence and the letters Zodiac leaves and sends them leaving them in dismay. It shows how they have dedicated their lives to find one of the most notorious serial killer in the American history.

It was splendid from many angles to look at the movie ,first and fore most was the angle the way the murder was looked at. We look from the point of Murder and there is whole team which looks at the poin of the murderer and the David looks at the view of Investigators. It shows the different ways the movie analyses the murder. First from the angle of the reporter with the codes and letters he leaves . Paul Avery (Robert Downey Jr.) as the crime reporter takes the initial momentum with Cartoonist Robert Graysmith (Jake Gyllenhaal) then Inspector Dave Toschi (Mark Ruffalo) takes through with the investigation and then again Robert Graysmith takes from the scratch from a different angle.I don’t want to reveal the level at which it was analysed but it was meant to be suspense and it had honoured with each actors performance.

A serial killer leaving too much of clues but the whole investigators are helpless to reach him through the methodology which they adhere. But any moment the movie does not let down the methodical investigation to near him.In the sense it does not involve any false climax or intervention to complete the movie.David Fincher knows where he was heading and his screenplay really depicts the level expertise for him in the subject. His expertise is the main reason which makes us to transfixed to screen with out even anticipating for any thing odd out of the investigation.Probably even the investigation team lets down their anticipation on the result about the Killer as the time passes by.It looks so different when the whole investigation team sit in the cinema hall when years pass by and watch the movie about their investigation subject.David Fincher shows the frustration of the investigation team via Mark Ruffalo commenting “Already they are making movie on us!”.

Rober Graysmith becomes the only man who stands stubborn to look at the eyes of the killer .He assertively searches for a new way of looking at the murders and looses his family for the whole investigation.Lately he ends up documenting the whole work. One important thing about the movie is it has lots of characters which were hard to recollect every time .Because every body discusses in each way about the same point and end up pointing the different thing. It looked different altogether to see a movie which had been executed with clear study and precision on the real life characters. I did mention confused in the beginning for the characters correlation with the murder. It needs immense concentration to make a thing out of it. David Fincher did not want to make the movie on the murderer Zodiac he wanted to make on the people who dedicated their lives to investigate Zodiac.Result Fincher does not present any fiery killings and blood spills. That's so disturbing and attracts from the rest about Zodiac for me.
