Kannamoochi enada (2007)

Why some of the directors in tamil been branded as A class audience directors?For example Gautham Menon,Rajiv Menon,Kathir,Now Priya and many more to come .Does any one have answer for it .Simple reason being they copy cat Hollywood movies which comman audience do not watch.They pull the main plot so carefully or they pull some of the potent scene from it ,For example Mystic river investigation scene and Vetayadu Vilayadu investigation scene and Seven’s Climax scene and famous Samal Sema scene in Kakha Kakha ,”sense and sensibility” and Kandukonden konden and now Kannamootchi enada and Meet the parents.

If Director Priy claims its her own work then it’s a big lie. But she has packed in such a way that original version is not shown evidently .I was able to make out it should be inspired from Meet the parents when I saw the peculiar poster.Still Kanna Mocchi enada is a good entertainer with light comedy .the base story being the same Theivanai (Sandhya ) brings her boy friend Harish (Prithvi raj) to her parents Commisioner Arumugam (Satyaraj) and (Radhika)get the acceptance for their marriage.Now every body accepts him except Satyraj ,the same testifying scenes continues when in a ego clash Radika leaves satyaraj.The film ends in a happy note after no tension climax .

When Satyaraj is in top form no one can match him and he is simply amazing in his trademark lollus.Satyaraj and Prithviraj combination has worked out well.We all would have some character when remaking a movie but finally end up in different cast .Whats exciting in this movie is its star cast every body fits the character as a tailor made roles.Some scenes are made in such why commissioner of police behaves so childish and idiotic but the story demands for it can be the only reason.

Prithviraj in a row for his humour roles after Parijatham ,Mozhi.Sandhya is irritating in many scenes and I guess she is trying to imitate Joythika in many scenes,She looks puny among the actors both in height and performances.Music by Yuvan and there is a remix in this movie (Andru vanthathum athey nila)also it sounds jarring .Megam Megam is treat to hear and I ve added to my play list after watching the song.Among the four big releases of Diwali three movies have remix songs.

Priya had done a impressive work on her screenplay in avoiding the famous comedy sequences of meet the parents and mixed some additional characters like Sripriya.Lie detector scene where Robert de Nero testifies Ben stiller is made in desi style in a welcome way.Kannamoochi enada is a joy ride for omitting all the masala trends and dadas and its is a family entertainer worth watch for those who wants to see satyaraj back to his trade mark lollu.Radaan is sure to soar in profit with this movie also after the debacle of Nam Naadu.
