Pollathavan(2007)

Bajaj Pulsar has got a free advertisement and it’s a worthy advertisement I tell you.It goes by the caption “ Definitely Male “ and Pollathavan is daring and genuine attempt of the director Vetrimaran and it shows frame by frame for his knowledge he tries to show in his maiden attempt.Worth celeberating movie for this Diwali among the releases is Pollatavan.Amidst all sort opposition I choose this movie and I was totally impressed by director’s work.Vetrimaran has shown difference in screen play and characterization and that has worked out well .

Prabu (Dhanush) is a easy going unemployed guy enjoying with his street friends Santhanam and Auto driver Karunas and cursed by his Parents Murali and Banupriya.His child hood passion is to own a Bike and he owns it after lots of drama with his dad.He proposes to his lover Divya ( Ramya ) and enjoys his life.One night he looses his bike in a crime spot and he reaches out to a categorically different stage.He finds his bike to be with Mafia gang and he reaches out to get it back.Rest is high tensed blood shed .How Dhanush gets his bike and saves his family is Pollathavan .Who is Pollathavan I was not able to make it ,I feel the plot is Pollathavan !!!!.

Interestingly the director tries the non linear story telling and he has not taken much of complexity to show it off to confuse.he has given it very clear when the movie starts off with narration from Daniel Balaji and Dhanush.Both forcing out to mess each other to fight for their rights.
There can not be a better introduction as a Mafia Leader Selvam( Kishore Kumar ).He steals the show completely from every body.Slim with bald head and in Jeans and short shirts he really threatens us from the very moment he is shown.He looks normal but moves and carries out radically to show why I am the Mafia Leader.Daniel Balaji as Ravi Brother of Selvam is the villain of the story and he looks on top form for the movie.Cant avoid the shades of Vettayadu Velayadu.He needs to try different voice modulation I believe.There can not be better choice for Danush parents Murali and Banupriya caught among the high tensed drama had done a great work along with Dhanush.Ramya has nothing to do but to romance and she had done it for a reentry.

Dhanush looks normal and that’s what expected from him ,The story do not require a larger than life character so Dhanush is in class performance for it .He has not tried out any thing new but got surrendered to Vetri Maran and it shows off in every move.

"Engayum Eppothum" is the best remix ever made in Tamil till now with Hip Hop and good dance movements.On the outset I thought they have spoiled the song but with the movie it looks larger and its truly a chartbuster for the months to come.G.V .Prakash score is impressive but truly he needs to come out of the Mudalvan back ground score of Chorus Voices singing like a opera for powerful scenes.The same score was repeated Kreedam and now in Pollathavan.He could have tried out new intense score rather trying with chorus.But for Songs truly impressive.

Vetri Maran should be a Martin Scorsese Fan and he had taken glimpses of his inspiration to a appreciable manner.He is a first-rate director who can be welcomed for one reason “There is one more person other than Kamal Hasan who speaks non linearity with class not to confuse in Tamil cinema”.His characterization is perfect and the plot ,if Pollathavan is his first attempt and he speaks of Narcotics,Modernday Banking,Customs, along with family values.He has not taken any thing to over shadow and every thing is packed on a array to brand it as a Real entertainer.Pollathavan is violent but its must watch among the releases.

After comment from my friend I agree ,this movie is inspired from Bicycle Theif to an extent .I totally left the point to be mentioned in my post.
