Jab We Met (2007)

I know I was late to this movie, but its worth waiting for the DVD version of this movie, some how the offscreen Shaid and Kareena stuff didnt interest me much so I skipped this movie. But this movie made the end of the relationship with a grand success for the movie and the signing off. Gossips apart this movie is one of the quality movie along with Chakde,TZP,Namastey London and Johnny Gaddar which i watched last year. Jab We met doesn’t have much in story but the screenplay and the scenes made it a enjoyable experience for me .

Jab We Met directed by Imitiaz Khan stars Kareena Kapoor and Shaid Kapoor.Aditya (Shaid Kapoor ) a multibillionaire and CEO of Kashyap group of companies feels he is at his end of his world when his Girlfriend ditches him .His mother seeks settlement from the company because of an affair which breached after Aditya Father’s death. He meets Geet(Kareena Kapoor) a sikhni ( Female belonging to a Sikh family !!!) in a train journey which he took to nowhere without any tickets.Geet keeps nagging him to know about him.At one point Geet misses the train successively at two Stations where she lands up along with Aditya.Aditya feels irritated by Geet’s naughty and childlike behaviour. She openly confesses she is love with Anjuman whom she wants to make a life with.Geet’s innocence and positive attitude changes Aditya’s depression. But Life takes a twist for Geet when she comes out her home after Aditya safely reaches her to the family.Aditya goes back to Mumbai becomes successful with the changes he acquired, when one point he learns from Geet’s parents she is missing.Aditya goes in search of Geet ,so then its all Bollywood stuff.

What is so good in the movie is the positive attitude which the movie shows from the beginning of Kareena’s entry. Can Kareena be so amazing in Humour ? Amazing stuff from Kareena with her shrewd bodylanguages and the filmy dialogues she puts forth to Shaid Kapoor.Kareena’s character has done the magic for the movie. There is nothing so great or extraordinary in this characterisation its same like Kajol’s character in Kuch Kuch Hota hain ,but its been so long i watched such a lovable idiot character.SHaid Kapoor can not handle Kareena Kapoor its so evident in the movie also.He had made himself matured and experienced for this movie.
There is one formula for forgetting the old love affairs which was amusing ,When Shaid shows her X Girlfriend photograph to her.Kareena asks Shaid to burn it off which would give him a change from the depression.Shaid burns and film shows he feels better. It looks pretty when you watch in the movie ,the kiddish activities of Kareena .The Director has to be given the credit for making a movie which was duly paced and equally interesting.

What was disappointing was the motive of Kareena and Shaid’s reunion when Shaid spells out the changes she made in him.The character Anjuman was neither funny nor interesting it was a Bakwas to have leaned towards the end.It gave the feeling of Namastey London by many scenes during the Punjabi house traditions.I was not interested with the songs and back ground.Jab We Met is a good movie to watch when you want to watch fine and well-made-up movie for a weekend in your DVD.

Personally, I feel that labeling "Jab We Met" as a DVD movie is not acceptable. I too was not keen to watch the movie, for the simple reason that I hate both the lead actors. But the movie turned out to be really good and entertaining.

Kareena was a refreshing character and Shahid's subtle character actually added to the movie's success. One more area where I would disagree would be the music; 4 songs (Hum to chalne lagi, Mauja, Yeh Ishq, Nagada baja) were all foot tapping numbers and even the pathos song was good.

The train and taxi scenes (probably due to lack of budget?!@#) was a little awkward on screen. But this is definitely a theatre movie and not DVD stuff. Just my opinion.
