Sanda (2008)



If this movie was released in Mid 80's with Satyaraj as hero and Lakshmi as the mother in law and Koundamani as the comedian it would have been a super duper hit .I am sorry the movie is late by nearly 15-20 years and i am really confused to write about this movie.For a simple reason there is nothing to say about this movie except Nadhia .The movie name is Sanda and not Sandai(What difference it makes ?) .The movie was named as Poruki by director Shakthi Chidambaram and later changed to Sanda.

Thangalakshmi(Nathiya ) returns to her village from Bangkok with her daughter Abhinaya(Ragini).She appoints Kathi(Sundar .C) as Body guard for her daughter to protect from her brother Palpandi,whom she as the person who killed her husband Napolean.Now when she arranges marriage for her daughter it so happens there are some turning point (?!!!) and Kathi marries her daughter .Now Kathi is Kathiresan son of Nathiya's brother.The fight starts between Nathiya and Sundar C.How they all lived happily is Sanda.

What will be the age of Nathiya.Let me take a guess ,Poove Poochudava was released in 1985 ,and Nathiya would have been 25 then .Its been 22 years.Oh my god she is 47.I can not beleive it.She is ravishing and still vibrant .She is the only comfort and the show stealer in this movie,and the particular song where she dances with Sundar .C was rocking.Sundar.C is very clear in his intentions like his direction he has adopted the same formula in acting to Masala.And its too much of Cinematic Gimmicks which gave me only a yawn.He is dancing with Namitha,Nathiya and Ragini .His acting is ok ,but let he not follow the formula which he is sticking ,Its horrible.
Why are we not able to laugh for Vivek's comedies nowadays.Its really a bad act from Vivek in this movie,I can only say he has wasted a opportunity of reentry ,He appears in the screen most of the time and he could have capitalised this but he ended showing bad tracks mostly repeated.Songs stick to the mood of the movie and no special mention on that.There is a big cast awaiting for you from Namitha to Villains Thandapani ,Rajkapoor to give you a big Mokkai.But many may enjoy it as it sticks to our traditional formula " Masala Masala ".What else ? B&C Minimum Guarantee!!!

With Silambattam Simbu needs a hit badly and he does what he knows the best.Dance and Action. Silambattam is a out and out Tamil Masala movie shot in a village atmosphere.Incidentally the Tamil cinema is able to break the Friday lucky day to release this movie on Thursday. Below is the write up about a movie which I expect so much for this year.The story has been my personal favorite and is based on one of the best Tamil novel which I have read so far.I happened to read the novel Pirivom Santhippom during my college days ,which made me to think aloud about love.Written by Sujatha the story was initially published in Anantha Vikatan in early 80’s.The story of Pirivom Santhippom is of two series first in Tirunelveli second part in America.After eight years I am able to recall each and every characters of the work.This has nothing to do with my memory but with the beauty of the book.The main characters are “Ragupathi and Madumitha “.After reading the book I felt there can not be a sweeter name than Madumitha .Even the name of the particular character while reading the novel will make you feel for Ragupathy.
