Dasavatharam (2008)

Dasavatharam is out in the town and I watched it on the night before its release.Amidst Kamalhasan’s ten faces,80 crore budget,K.S Ravikumar there is some thing which is expected from Kamal to the audience like me .I wanted to be felt satisfied when I am out of the theatre,not by just watching Kamal .Kamal has scripted a milestone is his career obviously one more mile stone .

The movie starts with 12th century Saivaites and Vainavaites fight for their God and the movie flies to US in 2004 .Govindh a microbiologist scientist who uncover a scam which has happened in trekking a Biological weapon .Govindh escapes with the weapon to India and he is been tracked by Fletcher a X CIA man.Now many stories happen around ,they all meet Govindh in a natural calamity which took place in 2004–Tsunami.

There is Kamal all around in the movie ,you don’t have to say a new to world description to say that he is brilliant.His dedication towards each character is some thing which is above excellence.His body language and his timing has been his strength and he has shown with variety here.The character of Boovaragan as a Dalit is a mark among all the character .Thats the one character which is with sense I would say.Andhra Police,Hitman ,95 Yearold lady,12TH century Vainavaite,Muslim citizen,Punjabi Pop singer,American president George bush,Japanese martial arts master,Dalit activist and Hero Govindh.This is Dasavatharam of Kamal for you.If you think I have not spelt the story for you ,you are wrong I have told the complete movie for you.Because there is no valid story to captivate the whole crowd of Kamalhasan.

Kamal wanted to make a story where he appears with ten roles and this is backward scheduling of working in a script which has failed in many cases.This has let down here to some extend.Because there can not be a intelligent plot here,there can be only matching all the sequences of where ever Kamal appears.Dasavatharam tries to do that in a technically rich way.Thats it.Some characters are added for the sake of appearance and it irritates .I am not being biased to write up but it is irritating.First ten minutes was encouraging in the 12th century but I don’t see a great relevance for linking it with the story.And above all whats the biological weapon and whats the scam and why Fletcher is chasing Govindh when his Boss is arrested which I was not able to understand.

Asin after a long time on the screen ,I don’t think it was as impressive as every body expected,Mallika sherawat was too good for the role given to her.Jayapradha is amazing ,Watching Kamal and Jayapradha as a pair was exciting for the song “Oh sanam “ .Himesh Reshmaiya has to be praised for the song ‘Mukunda”.

The above said are just my observation ,but if you take off the logic, Kamal needed the commercial racy movie which has come out very well.People may just watch the movie for Kamal’s appearance on the screen no doubt in that.K.S Ravikumar is a magician to deliver commercial success this time its once more with ten Kamalhasans.Dont miss the final scenes where he shows off the makeup minutes of the ten roles.
