Rock On !! (2008) - * * * *

Its been very long that my expectation has come true. Its like this when ever I expect some movie to be good ,the movie becomes a big disappointment.I was expecting very eagerly on Rock on after watching the stills and the cast.I would say now Hindi Films are exploring new avenues which are new to Indian cinema in a successful way.Tare Zameen Par ,Chak De India was last year success story. And now its Rock On.Rock On simply Rocks .

Many movies have explored on music here they explore the new age music with sheer passion. The Band Magik parts after successfully winning a music contract because of misunderstanding between Aditya (Farhan Akthar ) and Joe (Arjun Rampal ).After ten years the friends Adi,Joe ,Rob (Luke Kenny ) ,KD unite for a cause to make their dream come true.

Abishek Kapoor has to be given a great applause for his decision to make Farhan Akthar sing in the movie. He incidentally wanted the guy who plays the lead singer to originally sing for all the songs ,because to avoid faking of voice some thing which is very unusual in new age cinema. The moment we enter in to the band of Magik the chords and strings play on us with experience as watching a live show.Movie rides on the music and introspection of each other and their passion.Abishek has done a great level of work to bring the originality and feel of a rock band in the movie.

Farhan Akthar actor ,producer ,singer in the movie. What else you can ask for this man.At any given day he is a gusty performer.Singing doesn’t comes so easily and his singing panache shows his zeal for his music and performance.I was not able to take away my eyes when he was in the stage. He took the movie like a blazing hoist with style and life.Great job from the talented director in his debutant movie .

Arjun Rampal is macho and suits the role of the guitarist but his moves are faked by visuals which I was able to notice. The man has given a astounding performance with his grim mood and guitar. Purab Kohli keeps the band and audience lively with his witty and comic actions. He has come a very long way as an actor from the days of Bas Ek Pal.Its good to see Luke Kenny after the controversial film Bombay Boys. All I wanted to say is the band was perfect for its name, cast and performance.Every emotions of the rock singer was aptly brought in to the visuals with a precise level of understanding . Shahana Goswami as Joy’s wife gives a very balanced and bold performance.

It can resemble Dil Chahta hai in way and with some visuals ,cant avoid as it brings the posh society to our eyes again. But this movie has a superlative technicals which will steal your heart .The visuals are a real treat in this movie and special mention has to go to the camera.

Shankar Ehsaan Loy has lived their composition with this movie.I could rate this as their so far best as its not a easy to bring a collection of great rock composition.I am hearing these songs for nearly two weeks and after watching it ,I am sure it will continue for months.Lyrics are funny and the actors give you where the rock singers take clue from.

Some parts in the second half makes the movie to slog a bit and some explanations about Aditya’s change of mind all of a sudden are missing. The movie can not be called as great but sure it rocks to your nerves.Every moment of the performance will be getting in to any viewer ,as they would slowly doubt being in an arena.I would say the band Magik Rocks Big time .
