Body of Lies (2008)

Back again to halls for Movies! A week of no movies in theatres made me feel I was doing nothing. How stupid it was for me to think as such. But intentionally I wanted to give a skip of some movies like Durai ,Babylon A.D ,it didn’t gather any good reviews too. This time worth a watch with Body of lies.

Ridley scott is an inspiring maker and he is back after American Gangster,And this time with Leonardo De Caprio and Russell crowe. Roger Ferris (Dicaprio) is a CIA operative in Iraq who tries to uncover a Jihad terrorist Saleem who operates from Jordon. His boss Ed Hoffman (Russel Crowe ) helps him to reach out AlSaleem network through series of plans .Ferris seeks the help of Jordan Intelligence Chief Hani (Mark Strong ) to reach Saleem.Things travel from U.S to middle east and series of events make up this body of lies.

Body of Lies is far from being a great movie like Black hawk down but its definitely a racy movie which can make the pulse faster .If there is one actor we audience seen from the beginning of the career to becoming a great showman its going to be DeCaprio.Uneasy alliances, fighting for the moral stand, proffessionally bugged up,a guy trying to impress a woman, entangled victim he exhibits real zeal in his performances .His intensity has been phenomenol through out the movie which is highly notable for this movie. No wonder he teams up with big guns like Martin Scorsese and Ridley scott.De Caprio wanders across the countries who infilterates easily amidst the mess which happens around him ,surprisingly he escapes every where.

Russel crowe has gained 50 pounds for this movie and he is almost irritating but interesting. He puts across his CIA initiatives through his mobile phone connected through earphones and his artificial surveillance which monitors the activities of the mission.Markstrong as Jordan Intelligence head is impressive and commanding. He never lets his stand for the American notorious activities as he is pretty stubborn to reinforce them that it is Jordon and not America.

The movie is almost touching the reality but its absolutely believable ,Its socio political arguments and deceptions make this an interesting movie .It carries all the ingredients of a spy movie right from infilteration to romance with the local woman .The dark camera and visuals will surely make you sit upright till the end which is a usual of Ridleyscott movie.Body of Lies makes you feel the action-adventure conventions of the movie take precedence over socio-political statement which the whole theme tried to address.

Ridley Scott does dependably good work... apparently he enjoys working with Leo DiCaprio and Russel Crowe, though it's still hard to remember DiCaprio as anything besides the teenage kid who made it big in Titanic

@ Movie fan
Thanks for visit.
Decaprio has matured as an stunning performer .we need to agree that...His last movies were brilliant for his performances.
Titanic was his launching pad,,,but sure he has come out of the teenage kid image.:)

saw this yesterday and sure was a gripping movie. Very compelling performance by Dicaprio and personally felt that Crowe was amazing with the limited scope he had. As Ashok had mentioned in his review the ending, though was happy, was not real :)
