Ghajini (2008)

I didn’t manage to grab the tickets of Ghajini because of many reasons but when one of my friend called me to watch it on the first day, I thought I was lucky because the black tickets were selling at 300 /-.Ghajini the movie which made waves in Tamil is a stylish and neatly made movie for many reasons.Asin’s humour and the elegance of Sanjay Ramasamy played by Surya and the ferocity and intensitly of Surya made this movie a blockbuster three years ago.Ghajini when remade in to Hindi with Aamir Khan by the same director everybody expects a great work. But I am very disappointed to say that it failed to live up to the expectations which it earned through promos and the team’s calibre.

Ghajini is a scene by scene ,dialogue by dialogue remake of the Tamil Ghajini till the climax.Superbly stylish Sanjay Singhania falls in love with small time model Kalpana concealing his real name and position.Ghajini is the revenge of Sanjay Singhania’s revenge on the person who killed Kalpana. In Hindi the villains name is Ghajini played by Pradeep Singh Rawat.

I had said this before also and now too I reiterate my point that Amir Khan has credit than what he deserves .He is not a legendary actor like what he is celeberated,I can vouch for that he is a good actor thats it.If some one who watch this movie after Tamil , they can not stop comparing with it .Because here its more of a brand exhibition and muscle show than the acting itself.Amir looks miserable as a short term memory loss. His voice has very less modulation and strength in the character is more with the muscle ,than the revenge he has.Amir Khan has given his fullest cooperation but I can clearly say this character needs a gloom which was missing from this actor.

Asin’s humour was a mark in Tamil Ghajini and its surprising to see the character Kalpana’s energy in Hindi also.Asin has done the role with perfection minus some animation. Some where we feel this movie is some what different from the Tamil movie.Thats because of the second part of the movie. The second half of Tamil movie was hated by all as it had some base less logic with two villains and some comic fight sequences.Thankfully Murugadoss has realised it and he had given genuine work to make it worthy in the second part. The second part sequences are neatly made with logic .Its a dream project for Murugadoss and it’s a stage to show his calibre but I don’t know why didn’t try any thing new,he was very defensive and he had struck to even the same costumes of many characters .

As a fresh movie with out comparing with Tamil Version or Momento I would say this a movie which can be watched .But if you are under the conception that you are going to get a feast from Amir then forget it,it’s a normal performance from the much celeberated actor.Asin and Music of Rahman lifts this movie to an extend .Some how the dialogues of Tamil which worked wonders in Tamil didn’t work in Hindi which should have been changed.

Ghajini is not a bad movie but definitely not a great movie. If you still love the Tamil version you can miss this version by all means as the important aspect of 8 Packs ABS of Amir is shown in all Media channels as the 8th wonder!! You can very well watch it.Ghajini is an ordinary remake .

This as a movie remade from Tamil has come out better than the Tamil version in presentation, but misses humour of Asin (which was the stronghold of the Tamil version).

Just a trivia for everyone and no offence - there is nothing common between Ghajini(s) & Momento, except for short-term memory loss & revenge. I get a little bugged when Ghajini(s) is being compared with Momento. I loved Momento and comparision with Ghajini - kind of degrades Momento.

I agree with u sabari that we should nt compare it with Momento...in my review i havent taken an attempt to compare both of it...but as far as Hindi and tamil is compared...I would say Surya was far better and amir wanted only to be muscular i beleive rather acting with some substance...It wasnt so much enthralling as it was hyped////

To an extent - agreed Karthik. Surya & Asin's performance in the Tamil version were better than Aamir's and Asin's in Hindi. But the plot was made much better and refined in Hindi.

i agree the second half was logically convincing than in tamil...tamil had a very very worse second part
