5 Hidden gems available in Netflix and Prime

Some movies leave our sight so quick and become a hidden film due to very minimal or zero marketing, modest star cast  which didn’t appeal us. Today all you need is a movie which can make your afternoon worthwhile or your evening and the language doesn't matter.

Below are five Indian movies which blew me away during my first watch, I have watched them even twice because of its brilliant making or stunning performances.

  Gantumoote - Amazon Prime

I was floored by this hidden gem, this will be  the most underrated movie last year and a testimonial to show how Kannada movie is evolving over this past three years. I have a greater affinity today with Kannada movies and I strongly believe we may have to remove the stereotyping about Kannada movies and watch these coming of age marvels. Gantumoote is a rare piece of work to show love from a female protagonist. This beautifully crafted movie shows separation, longing, romance through the eyes of Teja Belawadi, who stuns the viewers with a brilliant performance. For sure this movie will evoke some of your memories if you are from 90’s

Nila  - Netflix

Nila on the outset is a taxidriver romance with a prostitute, but this some how stays with you like a good romantic poem. It may be the eyes of Shruti Hariharan or the night visuals, or the radio in the taxi, the movie will give a emotional kick if you prefer to watch it alone

Swathanthryam ardharathriyil (Freedom at midnight ) – Netflix

Directed by Tinu Pachappan from Lijo Jose team (who made Angamaly diaries and Jallikattu), there is an admirable ugliness in this  Anthony Varghese movie after Angamaly Diaries, which makes it a compelling watch. It’s clear that its inspired from Shawshank redemption, but a very much in a Malayalam atmospherics makes this a Jailbreak movie, a raw flick which should not be missed. Stunning visuals and  impressive single take shots makes this action thriller a compelling watch from Netflix

 Kavaludari – Amazon Prime

Kavaludari is a shocker of a  Kannanda movie for its composure and poised direction. Kavaludari is one of the best movies of 2019 and a well made gripping thriller with stunning performances . Rishi’s character and his stature will make you respect the maker’s selection of plot and the movie. This is not just a convincingly moderate movie, but a genuine good thriller with a  unusual plot. One of my favourite movie of 2019.

   A1 –

A1 was a laugh riot, this Santhanam starrer would definitely make your day with non stop comedy sequences. The marathon comedy takes off after the first 15 minutes when M.S.Bhaskar and Manohar enters in to the plot. A1 is one of the best comedy movies of recent times and definitely will tell you how much Santhanam is missed in Tamil cinema. Some of the sequences in the movie will make you laugh non stop  (especially the fake mourning for heroine’s dad) that you may miss the following one liners.

I was sceptical about the list but when you mentioned Kavaludari , I will take your recommendation for the rest. Kavaludaari is one awesome movie and it did break the kannada movie taboo for me.

Thanks for the list
