Hamburger Hill(1987)

This movie is my first experience in watching a Vietnam War movie. To understand the emotions of Vietnam movie we need to be a part .But that doesn’t rake up the whole movie. To a degree the war is viewed as a cold war between US,its allied groups on one side and Soviet union ,North vietnam on the other side.So there was a natural feeling with the soldiers to argu why they are there .Tha movie brings at various stages the conflict involved clashes between small units patrolling the mountains and jungles, amphibious operations, guerrilla attacks on the villages, and cities .The story tells the mission of the 14 US soldiers including young in experienced soldiers to capture Hamburger hill which is with North Vietnamese and Chinese soldiers.
On the outset the movie goes with lots of conversation and emotional outburst. The film is a bleak prompt of what it was for young men to live and die in Vietnam which had nothing but political reasons for U.S.A.The film uses some brave scenes in pointing the army using infant soldiers (FGN- F***ing new guys as they are called in the movie) for critical missions.
Directed by John Irvin this is a short movie which gives a interpretation on the Vietnam war from a hiding view. The movie is good in the view it shows the realism and brutalism of the real life and war prone area. Its so laid-back in the views that it throws on the political trauma that had struck during the war. It did not fail to show the heroic and brave attitude of the American soldiers to advance up in the Hill. I enjoyed the acting of Sgt Frank (Dylan Mcdermott ) &Vincent 'Alphabet' Languilli(Anthony Barrile).I am impressed with the way Director has taken this movie with out deviating from the camp and mission to other part of the war. It really had struck the sense of the movie for which its intended. The movie clearly shows how the Soldiers draw out conclusion by their moods and why they were fighting .Best part is the clarity is given without asking questions “Why am I here?”.That a witty way of handling a controversial epic.
I was not convinced with the Graphic contents of the movie which had let down the movie in many parts of actions. The location is alarming and it captures the war with the blood and rain .The movie looks dull on the whole with regard to swiftness ,but it’s a different movie to watch for as it brings the soldiers mind and state than their task.
