Seval (2008)

Hari is back for this Diwali,Last year his Vel was the winner among the horses overtaking even the well made Pollathavan. What could you say he is a winner all along in B and C centers with completely action packed and emotions sowed. This time he makes a movie with such a kind but with Bharath. One thing I have to mention before writing this review is that there were more characters in the movie than on the cinema hall. And at one particular scene there were nearly 25 characters which spoke and I am not sure how Hari handled it.
Seval is about a careless village guy Murugesan ( Bharath ) who falls in love with Parijatham (Poonam Bajwa) .Incidentally Gayathri (Simran) ,sister of Poonam marries Prem .Simran falls with Cancer and before her death she gets Poonam’s acceptance that Poonam should get married with Prem.Bharath and Poonam sacrifice their love for Simran.Unfortunate events occur for Parijatham and two people in the village lust for Parijatham.Bharath decides to take revenge on those two and the lovers unite after years .

Such a lousy story line with some sensitive issues of widow and usual commercial masala.Seval is a kind of movie which has a very irritating aspects in all departments from characters, story line ,dialogues. You can not love even a single aspect of the movie.First thing is that the movie is lengthy .Second thing some old formula of Village Chairman’s lust on heroine.Does Hari ever realise that his movie should unfold from this method.Usually Hari movie has some good action sequences and some good chases atleast which is missing.Atleast he could have spilled those things to make it watchable.

Bharath aiming for a hit has fallen as a prey here. His performance and the newcomer Poonam’s performance is good but on a very bad stage. Simran on a come back ? Such a very normal character for a good actress.Vadivelu irritates on screen along with Bharath. We see Sampath occupying most of the villain roles nowadays !

Hari should stick to his usual things or he should not try these kind of rotten story lines as the movie looks miserable to watch right through. There were many characters and many twists but all in vain. This is suppose to be the dreadful Diwali by far I knew for the past twenty years.
