Serpico (1973)

Till I watched this movie I was thinking unlike our cops American cops are real poised and honest cops. I have seen many Tamil movies of one man standing against the corruption .There have been a stereotypes invariably in all the movie which stands against corruption.
End of the day in our real life we go with the system what so ever the movie preaches .But we all would have felt the frustration of being in the corrupted system on different heights. More you get frustrated the tougher for you to survive in the system.

Serpico is based on the true story of New York City policeman Frank Serpico.Serpico (Al Pacino) a honest police man gets frustrated with the corruption in Police department. He gets transferred over and over. Serpico begins to appeal to his bosses about the corruption, but gets ended in vain. Finally he blows the whistle against the whole system at the famous Knaps commission and quits the police department.Sydney Lumet has made the casting crew with some Hard Legendary character actors like John Randolph as Cheif Sydney Green ,Jack Kehoe as Tom Keough but this is a out and out a Alpacino movie.
Serpico is rated as one of the best movies of all time by AFI and Alpacino’s performance as Serpico is regarded as the best of his all rolls. This movie does not go as a tribute to real Serpico.Right from the moment we see Al coming out of the academy we see the aspiration in his eyes to become a police officer. He dejected ,bombarded and gets ditched in the system.Alpacino working for Sydney Lumets direction is a treat to watch. The chemistry works seamlessly for both of them .
Even though the movie tells you the end in the beginning its so compelling and paced that you forget the beginning.I had a wide imagination about the movie when I saw the beginning when Alpacino shownin shot condition."Al pacino not a Mafia again" But I was surprised to see Alpacino acting in a understated character.
Knowing Alpacino’s command over the screen I didn’t expect much in this movie. But every time he gives a new dimension in acting. In any point of the movie Serpico never preaches against corruption. That's probably one of the positive differential effect of this movie to be watched for.
When I was surfing on Serpico I found the real Serpico's website.I recommend to visit it once to know what this man and how is convicted and victimised of Honesty and sincerity in the system
