Bheema (2008)

Its been 2.5 yrs Vikram appeared in Silver screen the last time was Majaa .I didn’t have to say there was a expectation for Bheema ,But some times movies show why time factor is so important for any creation.2 Yrs in making ,expectations evaporating from Fans and when the movie arrived for the big gala its all too late.Firstly the viewers are tired of Gangster movies .Too many movies even at the same release had already competed for the same concept.
Bheema is an action packed gangster movie starring Vikram as Sekhar ,Prakashraj as Chinna .There is also Trisha ,Raguvaran ,Ashish Vidyarthi.Sekhar a hitman of Chinna’s group has to decide between to stay with his Child hood hero Chinna or his love Trisha.when he makes a decision ,the trio is targeted from their opponents Raguvaran Gang and Cops.Whats can you expect great in this movie ?Bheema is the mission named by the Commissioner Ashish Vidyarthi to clean the Gangsters in city.

First and foremost thing which I had noticed in this movie is ,It had shades of many Tamil movie ,Cant help when you are late to the party(Arinthum ariyamalum,Kakha Kakha,Departed....!).Secondly Kanal Kannan dethrones Vikram from Hero position. The stunts are really breath taking and its weighty every scene.Thirdly what is the motive of love for Trisha and Vikram ? It’s a stupid introductory scene for both of them meeting and then on the romance is seriously irritating then on.Is Bheema a serious let down and who can be blamed for it when you have best technician working for the movie.I would seriously blame it on Lingusamy and S.Ramakrishnan

I have my serious doubts whether Lingusamy is a one film wonder for action movies ,I even debated with my friends about this when we concluded with the same view.Sandai Kozhi didn’t impress me and so is Bheema .Even for a single scene the intense mood of the characters didn’t stick to my mind and there was all a normal drive for the Gangsters from the beginning .I would sincerely take to mention the climax which rips apart from the whole movie’s standard. Even the scene when Vikram and PrakashRaj unites looks so normal for the two massive performers.Director has a big dilemma in the middle to make a commercial movie or a class movie. It shows in many scenes. This dilemma has let down the movie in a big way.The reality in the climax does not get synchronized with the whole movie.

S.Ramakrishnan has given the dialogues and more than Lingusamy he has to be blamed for the letdown, I have serious comments for this .Firstly the Writer should stick to the mood of the Director or Vice versa. When the team has decided to make a commercial movie about a macho man ,Tamil cinema of such genre has always been assisted with Dialogues. Its not the punch dialogues which I am mentioning ,it’s the powerful characters voice which is missing badly.Raguvaran ,Prakash Raj,Vikram can you name any extraordinary words uttered ?Apart from that I strongly believe Gangster movies have been noteworthy through the voice of the characters .For example I was totally disappointed with the quality of the dialogues during Raguvaran stands from silence when Vikram parts from Prakash Raj .” Enakku ratham pakkanum (I want to see blood !!)“ .Music and Cinematography becomes the lonely survivors of the movie .

Vikram should not have waited for these much for this kind of movie ,I would say he had less scope for his acting and more scope for his muscles.Vikram had been treated as a hit man whose biceps are more trusted than his skills.Lingusamy and team went to shoot the movie trusting only Kanal Kannan and Vikrams Biceps. One man’s powerful outlook will not lift the movie.I am terribly disappointed for wasting many good actors especially Raguvaran .Bheema looks are powerful but sadly he is blind when you look at the whole movie.
Rating :5/10
