The Matador (2005)

I have always enjoyed Pierce Brosnan when he is not playing “The Bond “(Though I have not closely followed Remington Steel ).I always feel the brand Bond over takes the man himself.Thats true for any actor who has played it .Pierce Brosnan to my point is one of the best actor who can perform casually not shaking so much with the plot. His performance has always been with ease and I enjoyed this in Matador also .

Matador has nothing great to entertain ,but it’s a movie which is worth watching .Movie speaks about friendship between two persons coming from different parts .Julian Noble(Pierce Brosnan) a international hitman meets Danny Wright(Greg Kinnear) in Mexico .Julian compels Danny for friendship as he expresses he doesn’t have a friend or a house. After some moments in Mexico friends go back to their world. After months Julian meets Danny and his wife at Denver in Danny’s house. He reaches out to Danny to accomplish a mission with Danny .

This movie gives a very calm feel of the characters though the movie revolves around a hitman and his behaviour. It nonchalantly sails with the two characters on their interaction and inherent perception ( I am doubtful is there a word inherent perception –As the word perception itself is intrinsic ) .Some how I felt along the movie that I am watching with out any decisive scenes as the movie went on it slowly took me to a different mindset about the movie.I am sure one can not predict what this movie is going to say when it reaches the fag end. This is more of studying each characters and breaking the notions about each of them particularly for Danny and Bean about Julian. From the beginning though appearing rough and untidy Julian’s character has been patterned with a unambiguous nature knowing each objects around him.Even when he feels he needs rest he openly states I am not able to do it because I am tired.

Some times burning out brings the worst in you,it was astonishing to giving a different look for Brosnan when he feels he needs rest..He is really captivating ,cool, times arrogant and unshaven .But he tries to sail with Danny who has lost his child and shares a cohesive relation with his wife .Greg Kinnear does what ever Pierce Brosnan does at one point of time you feel he gets instructed and inclined towards his true friendship.Hope Davis as Bean behaves matured than her husband Danny. Some scenes are noteworthy from the director to be mention particularly when Brosnon realizing his critical situation also when the three characters share a light moment at Danny’s house and ofcourse the bulls fight.

It’s a movie which can not be rated so high but it’s a amusing movie to find a actor who sheds his image to look and act different. It does not have a great plot but its definitely a movie which ca be enjoyed for its humour and sarcasm.
