Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008)
I didn’t watch Sawariyaa ,I had missed it by chance.Ranbhir Kapoor’s next movie Bachne ae Haseeno was explicitly showing off as a typical Yash Raj Movie .But to my surprise this was a movie which gave me some good time while watching.I wasn’t baffled at all when watching since some of the characters in the movie many shades of my Friend Emil George .
BAH is a movie about flirting and Killer Kismat (The word which means uncommitted love in this movie).Raj starts of his romance with Mahi (Minisha Lamba) in Switzerland when he was just out of school with fun and nothing attached as she was with him.He breaks her heart when she finds that he was not committed to have a relation.Then comes Radhika (Bipasha Basu ) ten years later in Mumbai.Living together has become a old concept for Hindi Movie but it was shown with a new flavour here.
He ditches her by moving to Sydney during the day when Bipasha was waiting for Ranbhir before the Marriage registration office.Raj meets Gayathri( Deepika Padukone ) as a part time taxi driver in Sydney.Raj falls in love with her ,while she moves away as she is not interested in Marriage.Raj realises the pain of love and looks back at the girls which he had ditched.He goes back to them for seeking a apology.
Movie is too fast for the first one and a hour ,It showed till Raj is shattered when Gayathri goes away from him.Three episodes in first half was well handled and the second half had the apologies and meeting back and stuff.So the movie had all the ingredients for a viewer to get what he wants.The usual Yash Raj movie with Exotic locales and typical Punjabi Marriage and Railway stations.The songs were not catchy except the yester year hit Title song remix. there are back to back songs which I was surprised as I am seeing it for the first time in a movie there are two different songs playing back to back with out any dialogues in the gap with two different occasions.But for the movie has some touching and freaky dialogues ,breezy romance till the end and some mind relaxing scenes with Ranbhir and the Girls.
Ranbhir is Good and apt for the guy he was in the movie and his character had the innocence ,wickedness and maturity to handle the each section of the movie.Minisha Lamba was impressive.But Bipasha is too good after a long time with a scope for her performance .Much was expected from Deepika but her character was dumped as a smiling beauty.The Guy is lucky to lip lock with three of his girls in the movie !!!
There are many shades of DDLJ ,Tamil movie Autograph and Broken flowers which explicitly comes to our mind while watching.Some times its not a bad practice when you are able to correlate things in a entertaining way,which the director Sidharth Anand has done .I would say this movie is a good entertainer and gave atleast a relaxing mood after some bad movies .I have asked my friend Emil George to watch this movie as the character Raj completely resembles him.
