A Wednesday (2008) * * * *

This is been a fabulous week.I don’t remember when I had a packed week like this watching all great movies.I am telling you if you miss A Wednesday you are missing some thing .Its not only about the movie its about all of us.A Wednesday is a movie which is from my point is the best of the year so far.Bollywood is rocking this year and I see a lots and lots of talents erupting to make movies with style and brilliance.

Mumbai police commissioner Prakash Rathod receives a anonymous call about the bombs which the man has planted across the city.Nasurudeen shah who is the caller tells about his conditions for it ,to give the details about the bomb.He wants four terrorists to be released from Jail .Prakash Rathod puts his two of his men Arif(Jimmy Shergill) and Jai(Amir Bhasir) in the job to transport those terrorist. What happens is some thing which is unexpected and unimaginable.

The movie is told in a different style and it can match any of the Hollywood movie. The movie takes the pace from the moment Prakash receives the call from Nasurudeen shah. What happens is the serious of negotiations ,analysis, clarifications and interrogations till the time the real crux of the movie arrives. Its been dealt in a intelligent way right from the technological front to interrogations.Every aspect of the movement is rightly explained and makes us realise the panic and scare the men in the movie is experiencing.

Performance wise this movie stands tall with a bunch of very very talented actors.Anuphem Kher as a Commissioner of Police has handled himself and the situation in the movie very well.Jimmy Shergill as Arif stands apart as a hotheaded and gusty Cop.His performance makes us show how thirsty he is for good movies.Fantastic and remarkable performance from the young man.Amir Bhasir as the other cop has given a stern and briskly performance.Above all Nasurudeen Shah exhibits his mark and he shows why he is regarded as a great actor available in India. His delivery ,body language is a school of acting in this movie. His articulation itself is versatile for every movie and here he comes up with another benchmark performance.

Movie is directed by debutant Neeraj Pandey!! I could say he is such a intelligent and methodical director who has given a marvellous movie to watch and think for.He has come up not only with a good entertainer but a lesson for many to take up movies with substance with style. His screenplay is astounding and I don’t remember when there was such a intelligent screenplay like this before. Some how every director takes Mumbai Bomb blast as the story line but every body differs in their presentation as there are lots and lots of stories to tell from the event.

I am repeating again ,A Wednesday may not be a movie which would grab attention like Rock On or Jane tu, but sure this movie tells you why movie is a media which can bring explanations for common man.It gives a dramatic and compromising finish but I don’t want to unfold the plot ,Still every thing of this movie is simply superb and a definite movie to experience if you are and you are not a movie goer.
