Kidnap (2008)


After continous good releases there is a speed breaker for Bollywood,Here it is the remake of two year ago movie Zinda in the name of Kidnap.It was publicised so heavily for Sanjay Dutt and Imran Khan but the movie is a big Yawn for its bad screenplay.

Kabeer (Imran Khan )a young guy kidnaps Soniya (Minisha Lamba )who is the daughter of Mallika(Vidhya ) and Vikrant.They are a divorced Couple and Soniya lives with her mom.Kabeer wants revenge from Vikrant who has put him into Juvenile court in his childhood.Kabeer makes Vikrant run for her daughter and makes him realise the pain.

I am totally convinced that the story line is incomplete and the screenplay.What was in intended to be conveyed was not at all conveyed and it puts up a very show when seen on screen.Every move and every scene is predictable and some very old fashioned chases in the streets of Mumbai and some old flashbacks make this much worse.Cant believe the same director who gave the exciting Dhoom series for us.Kidnap travels on a sick plot with some artificial moods and screenplay.

The movie is for Imran Khan ,he lives up to the expectation and delivers with in a intimidating style.I can surely say he can deliver much more than this.I wasn’t so much convinced with Jane Tu but with Kidnap it is confirming his presence in a bigger way,the way it happened for Ranbir Kapoor in Bachne ae Haseeno.Sanjay Dutt is a great actor but he looks totally uninterested and its not good to see him losing against Imran ,I am sure the audience wouldn’t like it.With his identity shown with a grand opening he runs and obeys the rules of the Game played by Imran.He invariably participates to his commands to save her daughter.But in the end it’s a downplay for Sanju Dhada.I like this Minisha Lamba ,she is beautiful ,sexy and expressive.

Zinda was played dark by Sanjay Dutt and John Abraham,It was set in the right mood.But here Imran as a character looks confused who struggles against the beauty of Minisha Lamba .He conveys the message he wants to deliver to Sanjay Dutt when he is at the pain,but we are not able to understand what is his point and we are not convinced whether the revenge was complete or what ?

Director Sanjay Gadhvi should have worked on his script and its such a very weak and rotten script with good actors.The movie fails from its expectation and 170 mins was a very long period for this movie.

"Zinda" I believe is a remake of Korean Movie "Oldboy" which is twisted and unbearably dark, but really well made film. In fact there is a case running on accusing the Zinda movie personnel of plagiarism. I am not sure whether "Kidnap" is a lift too.

i didnt know this ashok..Infact i was told it was inspired but..Kidnap's plot resembles Zinda ! But its pathetic

Test it , first 15 minutes of any these movies and I bet you will sure complete the whole movie. With Silambattam Simbu needs a hit badly and he does what he knows the best.Dance and Action. Silambattam is a out and out Tamil Masala movie shot in a village atmosphere.Incidentally the Tamil cinema is able to break the Friday lucky day to release this movie on Thursday. Anantha Thandavam -The original Pirivom Sandhippom

Below is the write up about a movie which I expect so much for this year.The story has been my personal favorite and is based on one of the best Tamil novel which I have read so far.I happened to read the novel Pirivom Santhippom during my college days ,which made me to think aloud about love.Written by Sujatha the story was initially published in Anantha Vikatan in early 80’s.The story of Pirivom Santhippom is of two series first in Tirunelveli second part in America.After eight years I am able to recall each and every characters of the work.This has nothing to do with my memory but with the beauty of the book.The main characters are “Ragupathi and Madumitha “.After reading the book I felt there can not be a sweeter name than Madumitha .Even the name of the particular character while reading the novel will make you feel for Ragupathy.
