Villu (2009)

I was impressed by the trailer of Villu even I don’t count so much on Vijay movies as he never wants his roles to test him.This trailer was stylish so I expected I could have a good time atleast.With Prabu Deva and Vijay ,I was not expecting a hi fi movie but a movie which could stop the bad run Vijay had through ATM and Kuruvi.Villu is a ordinary movie which is shown as so called stylish and ripped off from Hindi Movie Soldier .

Pugal a hitman is the arrow of Cop Manoj K Jayan who wants to clean off the internation gangsters Rakka,JD and Devaraj .Janavi daughter of international gangster JD falls for Pugal and she takes him to meet her Dad in Munich.Things becomes thick in action for Pugal where he takes revenge for a emotional flash back he has in his heart.

Villu is a the story of the bygone era which is told in flashy Suits and Glasses .Movie looks as a simple show off at many angles and many shots. Vijay’s entry looks like a comedy where he is being compared with M.G.R and the scenes where he refers to M.G.R tells his intentions .Vijay’s intentions tires up big time and I hope the viewers are not fools to accept those scenes.

PrabuDeva could have selected from lots of movies to be remake, but why Soldier which is atleast ten years old and even it was ten years behind its time.Now Villu with its Mother sentiment,The old demolished temple and villains looks like I was watching some Digital version of Amitabh Movie.Even the songs were very normal and I am not sure why the second half was very careless in the screenplay.

What saves the movie to some extend is the fast paced first half where the viewers have very less time to think about the story.The story is taken with some good pace with some comedy track of Vadivelu but it fades away in forty five minutes.Rest is pathetic and it looks like a funny fashion show.Vijay doesn’t look stylish at all ,even Prakash Raj was looking very funny with his mannerisms.Nayathara has a skin show throughout the movie .Whats more disappointing is the horrible comedy track and make up of Vadivelu and the particular scene where he fights with a cow is such a awful scene .

Rvaivarman’s camera is one department which excels among the others.The visuals in Munich are impressive with the lightings and the clips .Sorry I cant count the actors with the camera effects.

Please don’t believe that Villu is a stylish movie as its neither stylish nor its interesting ,it has a decent first half but the second half couldn’t be described for its style and story .Villain travels in Pajero from Munich to Some village in Tamil Nadu ,Vijay walks on a helicopter and much more.The old mother sentiment and revenge is not my cup of tea any more.Prabu Deva and Vijay jointly disappoints.
