5 Hidden gems available in Netflix and Prime

Image
Some movies leave our sight so quick and become a hidden film due to very minimal or zero marketing, modest star cast  which didn’t appeal us. Today all you need is a movie which can make your afternoon worthwhile or your evening and the language doesn't matter. Below are five Indian movies which blew me away during my first watch, I have watched them even twice because of its brilliant making or stunning performances.      Gantumoote - Amazon Prime  I was floored by this hidden g em, this will be   the most underrated movie last year and a testimonial to show how Kannada movie is evolving over this past three years. I have a greater affinity today with Kannada movies and I strongly believe we may have to remove the stereotyping about Kannada movies and watch these coming of age marvels. Gantumoote is a rare piece of work to show love from a female protagonist. This beautifully crafted movie shows separation, longing, romance through the eyes of Teja...

5 Forgotten Tamil movies (70's 80's 90's) to watch during this lock down available in Youtube

There used to be days when I used to watch a movie twice, thrice or even five times in a theatre. Every one growing up watching Rajini, Kamal would definitely agree; Aboorva sagotharargal, Batsha, Kadhalukku mariyathai or many to name it.  It may be completely not possible today with the schedule and the amount of new content which streams before you. Some movies bring nostalgic moments when they are telecasted today. For example, I usually have it with Bombay, I remember watching it atleast 30-40 times in theatres in and around Tirunelveli. I have rehashed some of Tamil movies which is available in Youtube today which you should watch it again.  These were some of the movies which gave huge inspirations to film makers, script writers or be it any one loves cinema like me. Test it , first 15 minutes of any these movies and I bet you will sure complete the whole movie. There were movies which defined the audience and also there are why Tamil cinema stands...

This stay at home you really need three things apart from your skill, learning etc..  1. You need a good play list of songs 2. You need a good headphones  3. You need a good watch list of movies I will try to post some genuine recommendations which can be your best binge watch for the day, available in Netflix, Youtube, IMDB TV, Prime, Apple tv, Hulu.   The 100 foot journey  The story follows the rivalry between an Indian restaurant which is  100 feet away from an upscale three-Michelin-star restaurant in France, run by a rude chef named Madame Mallory (Mirren).  Movie has a very earthy music by AR. Rahman and has a high profile casting. A perfect feel good movie, which may not be a great foodie movie and but a must watch for your Sunday afternoon, giving some good details about Michelin chef and Indian cooking. Running time : 122 minutes  Starring : Helen Mirren , Om Puri, Juhi Chawla , Manish Dayal. Safe Ha...

Petta (2019)

Image
Why do you wait to write a review  when the movie is too good. Why do you want badly watch First day show and let it sunk in you to speak about it.   6 months and 3 Rajini movies, I am not used to these much Rajini Movies in a year. Neither any of older fans than me. Petta is a detox for long wait and tired shows of Rajini. You will be able to forget Lingaa or for that matter any of his bad movies ( Second half of Kaala) too for this.   Petta makes you feel like a mashup, may be that’s what you call it as Rajinified today. Its not about Karthik’s fanboy image or What is needed from Rajini. Its more to do with how fans wants to see their beloved star on screen   Rajini and what hits the right senses when the mammoth star walks on screen. Karthik subburaj seems to know it well like his previous directors SP Muthuraman or P Vasu. What you witness is the return of   Guru shishyan, Panakkaran, Aboorva Ragangal, Batsha, Murattukalai , Payum puli...

2.0 (2018) ****

Image
Twenty minutes in to the movie and you don’t see the swag or any mass scenes. You aren’t waiting for superstar surprisingly nor his mass scenes, instead you are hijaked to a different elation from the man who made us believe   Tamil movies can be bigger and can bring grandeur to any audience. There used to be days when the first day Shankar movie watching had numerous sub stories in the theater halls and tea stall reviews. Explanation of mammoth production value, flashbacks, social message, Star value what not. Put every thing together you get 2.0 in an uniquely awestruck world which is built by this Director. If this man can make this well conceived marvel with 500 Crores, You are made to nod that he is here to make bigger movies in his style.  2.Point 0 is not a Rajini movie, but an impossible movie with out him. There is no one under this part of the world, who can pull the star value which Shankar Shanmugam wanted for Chitti or Vasee or 2.0 . The inimitability...

Kaala (2018)

Image
Lots have changed after Kabali. Kaala comes amidst tensed  political interviews. But some how this draws a line why Rajini kanth can be mass crowd puller when it comes to movies even in a strongly content driven movie. If you have strong opinion about Rajinikanth as a person don’t waste your time in making a meme, because Kaala has different intentions.  For those who are speaking against Rajini for all the stunts and interview, Kaala is totally a Pa. Ranjith movie. Ranjith is lucky enough to bring Rajini again in his themed movie, I would take a diversion from his thought to bring this thought from a movie stand point and why this movie mattered a great from performance and script.   Kaala is a big movie, for its performances, characters and thought;   but it has humbled   itself in writing and   stereotyping of multitude scenes. Ranjith has problems in delivering powerful dialogues, does his stage interviews or anger convert as verbiage? Ab...
