Aegan (2008)
So I am in Tirunelveli for Diwali !Expected lots of fireworks From Tamil cinema but was goofed by some late moment delays by Varanam Ayiram.But still I hoped there was Aegan.First day evening show and I was expecting my typical home town crowd to flood for this movie but was again let down as the theatres were empty.
Aegan is a remake of Main Hoon Na.Its a launching platform for Director Raju Sundaram.I never knew direction is very simple to get in! Main Hoon Na itself was a lousy movie and I am not sure why they opted for that remake.Siva (Ajith) on a mission as a student to save and protect Pooja(Piya) who is the daughter of Ramprasad (Devan) who turned as approver against Chinnappa (Suman ) and later lost the belief on Cops and escaped from them.
Ajith as a CBCID officer with big tummies again! Lost his control over his physique which makes very very unattractive.One thing I loved about this movie is the improvement of Ajith itself.All along I have never praised Ajith as he is the one actor who has never improvised in his acting and dance skills.He pretends to act and he moves to dance which looks horrible always.But here he makes some good performance and good dance which is astonishing.Rajusundaram has atleast done his role best in the area which he knows the best.
Movie lacks many things.It lacks characters and life,apart from Ajith there is no characters which graceful.Suman can be thrown off the screen.He is irritating and makes fun of himself which has let down the movie so badly.Jeyaram as a funny clown in the shoes of a principal.I am not sure why he selected such a very very bad role.Nayanthara as usual a doll.Even in Main hoon Na there were some good characters Zayed Khan and Sushmita sen were good Amrita rao and Sunil Shetty were also good here we hardly find any good performance.
The movie is let down apart from these factors by the director itself,It has no complete justification for any thing.Why Siva is such a fierce hunter who is chinnappa has been served to us in a half cooked movie. One thing if the screenplay was good and if the dialogues were taken care this could have been a very decent movie as it has broken some formula which is prevailing in the Tamil cinema.It could have given a big relief for the viewers for the Don-Rowdy culture.But still the movie can not be digested for its direction and characters. Totally unexplainable as a movie and even the Aegan can not save this movie .
