New York (2009)

Newyork is what they call in Hindi as Bakwas in its script. FBI detained many of the Muslims in U.S as suspects and tortured them ,Later released with lack of evidence. In that task many were innocent muslims. Here in Newyork FBI detains a innocent man but watches and plays undercover with a man who is evidently confirmed as terrorist. The whole plot and intention is lost there.

Omar ( Neil Nithin Mukesh ) is detained by FBI in connection with Terrorism.Later he understands that FBI wants him to play the undercover to find Sameer ( John Abraham) who is his collage mate who is married Maya ( Katrina Kaif) who is also Omar’s friend.Kabir khan’s movie claims to have researched a lot about the 9/11 events and the detainment activities carried out by FBI but its left in vain by the very weak screenplay and plot.

Neil Nithin Mukesh is in trouble from the beginning of the movie but he manages to put a show.John Abraham character is messed up totally and I am confused with his selection of movies nowadays.Irfan Khan is a cool customer and he proves here too with his interrogation. But his accent for a Bollywood movie looks very artificial.

Movie moves in a very painful pace and it kills the patience in many shots.Though its brought in very true intention the movie doesn’t have the strength to prove the point against .Movie is confused in its construction, its in a dilemma to be a Bollywood style or as a very serious style. It never strikes chord in both the sides.Movie has very normal dialogues which really makes this movie a boring affair.

I wasn’t convinced with the intentions nor the performances though the team wanted to present a reality which happens in every part of the world against Muslims.Kabir Khan fails miserably in his intentions to bring that due to lack of nerve and depth in screenplay. It looks a very serious disaster for a viewer like me.
